At a decorator's Outlet store I found this wonderful, heavy material at 50% off an already discounted price. (It was in the remnants section.) I think it makes a great covering for the guest room bed. The regular price for this material on the roll is $28/yard. Later, when (or if) I feel like it, I may just hem it. But for now, it is quick, easy and cheap. All this lux for only $11.
There's no such things as OTT in your book: why settle for average when you can have full-blown, unadulterated GORGEOUS? In some homes, the result is a riot of carte blanchecamp, but expressed more subtly, the glamorous look can be drop-dead sexy and sophisticated. It's all a question of how you combine colour and texture with attitude. Even if, secretly, you know that sometimes less is often more!
The Nesting place is having an impromptu P.O.O.P.I.E party (People Opposing Objectionable Pretend plants In the Environment) and I'm adding a pic of my violation here. It's one measly little plant - is it thaaat bad? Of course, it's in the most grossly obvious place - top of the kitchen cabinet - and by that alone, it might be deemed to be cast out with, say, outdated ivy wallpaper? Tell me what you think - is this tacky?
When the weather gets a little nip in the air and the sun begins to go down sooner, I find myself reading more. I search out books on the best-selling lists and also I might open up an unread classic. So I thought I'd ask if anyone is reading any good books at the present?
I've been thinking a lot about doors lately. (I'm strange in that way) and want to paint them something other than white. Here is the kitchen pantry door that used to be white and I painted it to a caramel color, applied antiquing glaze and added wood appliqués. The treatment really gives it character and charm, no?

An ornament this pretty should be displayed all year-long. Getting six at Michaels during their after Christmas sale for only $1 each was my special gift to myself. (They were originally $10 a piece!) What a bargain - and I didn't want to put these away for the rest of the year! I love the combination of the veined, green glass and white satin ribbon. These are perfect for the guest bedroom.
